
Who We Are

The Northwest Indiana Reinvestment Alliance (NWIRA) is a nonprofit HUD Certified Counseling agency organized in 2008. The mission of the organization is to better the lives of the residents of Northwest Indiana through financial counseling, fair housing, fair lending, affordable housing concerns and small business education. NWIRA promotes active participation from area lenders, community groups, and social agencies in providing services that will empower low to moderate income residents to strengthen and build better communities.

In 2008 NWIRA organized the Northwest Indiana Bankers Community Council. The Bankers Community Council currently consists of ten (10) banks and twelve (12) community organizations that meet quarterly to discuss the financial environment of Northwest Indiana. The BCC provides matching funds to support federal and state grants that support NWIRA programs.

The Lake County Housing Taskforce was organized through the cooperative agreement between Lake
County Community Economic Development Department and Northwest Indiana Reinvestment Alliance.
Its mission is to facilitate the coordination of efforts to identify and assess housing and financial
concerns facing residents of Lake County Indiana. Currently the Taskforce consists of more than thirty
(30) organizations and agencies.
